Their Sound:Rap/metal meshed with hip-hop and funk. They define themselves as a "crossover" band.
How they got started:While Fred was enjoying his job as a tattooist, he was interested in a crossover band. So, he decided to start a new group with people from other bands.
Hitting the big time:Fieldy and Head (both members of KoRn) went to Fred's parlor to get some tattoos. When they came back they listened to the Limp Bizkit demo tape. They liked it so much they passed it along to their producer, Ross Robinson.
The name:One of their friends was listening them jamming and said that thier music sounded like a limp bizkit. A limp bizkit is a term given to an old, stale biscuit in england. It is also a slang term referring to the brain of a burned-out drug addict.
Favorite Bar:The Milk Bar, in Jacksonville, Flordia. (It is also the only place they have played in their home town)
Formed In:Late 1994
How long it took to record:Six days
Controversities:The radio station KUFO in Portland, Oregon was paid $5,000 to rotate the song Counterfeit 50 times over a five-week period. It is the first single ever to be considered "pay for play"

Counterfeit:"As soon as [we got] popular, all of the bands started to look like us and dress like us. They're rapin' and doing all these things to be like us. I understand that they're musicians and they want to get in with the in thing, but you gotta be for real."--Fred Durst
Sour:"That song is about a girlfriend going through a bad time. She really got off on saying things to hurt me...anything I would hate"--Fred Durst
Stalemate:"It's like who cares if you don't appreciate anything I do-you have never listened to one song I wrote."--Fred Durst
Clunk:"[It]is about a guy I've had to deal with a long time-someone who is really just your friend one minute and the next minute he turns on you and talks sh*t about you."--Fred Durst
